Marian Antiphons

These are the four principal Antiphons sung at the close of Night Prayer during different times of the year.  Each has two forms, simple tone and solemn tone sung on Sundays, Solemnities and Feast days, which are presented below.

The Regina Caeli is sung from Easter to Pentecost. (Solemn tone)

The Salve Regina is sung from Pentecost to the beginning of Advent and from the Baptism of the LORD until Lent. (Solemn tone)

The Alma Redemptoris Mater is sung from the beginning of Advent to the Baptism of the LORD. (Solemn tone)

The Ave Regina Caelorum is sung from Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday.  (Solemn tone)

In addition, there are various other antiphons sung in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary on other occasions.

Sub Tuum praesidium, (Feasts of BVM, Antiphon)

Alleluia: Tota Pulchra Es, Maria (Immaculate Conception)

Ave Maria Stella (Easter)

As you might expect, the Hail Mary is put to music as well, Ave Maria simple tone

and Ave Maria Solemn tone.
